ANOTHER RIDICULOUS COURT DECISION

TALLAHASSEE – A divided Florida Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a 4-year-old law that makes it illegal for civilians to wear badges or clothing that say ”police” or ”sheriff’s office” on them, saying the statute violates First Amendment rights.

The law was passed to make sure members of the public aren’t fooled into thinking someone is a police officer or works for a law-enforcement agency. But a majority of justices said the law was vague, overly broad and could unfairly punish innocent people, such as those who choose to wear clothing with the words NYPD on it to show support in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
