MANSEHRA, Pakistan (Reuters) – The death toll from a huge earthquake in Pakistan and India headed toward 2,000 on Sunday as rescuers dug out the corpses of hundreds of children buried under their schools and found villages reduced to rubble.

PANABAJ, Guatemala (Reuters) – Around 1,400 people died under a huge mudslide in the Guatemalan village of Panabaj that was triggered by torrential rains from Hurricane Stan, the fire brigade said on Saturday.

“There are no survivors here. It happened more than 48 hours ago. They are dead,” brigade spokesman Mario Cruz told Reuters.
