Odds against a royal flush in poker are exactly 649,739 to 1. Odds against a straight flush (not royal) are 72,192 to 1. Odds against being dealt a hand with nothing, not even a pair, are even.
In dice, odds against throwing a (2) are 35 to 1…a (3) is 17 to 1… a (4) is 11 to 1… a (5) is 8 to 1…a (10) is 11 to 1…a (11) is 17 to 1…a (12) is 35 to 1.
In a game of craps, the casino odds given are but a small fraction of the real odds. In other words, those folks in Atlantic City and Las Vegas are not in business for their health.
