Patriot, Samuel Adams
“No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the aid of foreign Invaders.”
Samuel Adams (letter to James Warren, 4 November 1775)

Hmmm, sounds like what is happening in this country, today. How ironic that a quote from 230 years ago could still be so relevant today.
Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. Heed the lessons of our forefathers.
