OUR NEXT PRESIDENT (My prediction – June 4th 2008)
By Harvey Tobkes – June 4th, 2008

There is an old cliché that rings true…”It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it!”
John McCain is a worthy candidate for president, but I feel sorry for him. It’s sad, but public speaking is not his strong point. In fact, as a speech maker he is awful, boring , soporific. I have to ask myself…what did he say? Did he say anything?
When I listen to the guy I am embarrassed by his ineptitude. To use hyperbole, he makes George W. Bush sound like Franklin Delano Roosevelt…remember FDR’s line reassuring the nation…”The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.”
When McCain is trying to inspire an audience, the only thing we have to fear…is falling asleep.
Barack Obama isn’t giving us details or specifics, but when he talks…E.F. Hutton and the rest of America is shocked by the electricity of his articulate delivery. He is somehow able to give shape or expression to a theme or concept; he inspires and excites the audience. This guy is mesmerizing!
So far, I truly haven’t heard much beyond a pep talk about CHANGE from Obama. Every time I hear the C word, what comes to mind is the old political joke that asks…Why are politicians like diapers? “They both need to be CHANGED regularly and for the same reason.”
But I must grudgingly admit, Obama has the gift, and it’s how he says it, not what he says.
He will be the next president of the U.S.
