The waterbuck is a type of large grazing antelope, found in large numbers in the floodplain of Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique, Africa. A 15-year civil war in Mozambique decimated the park’s wildlife populations, but since the end of the war in 1992, waterbucks have experienced a huge recovery, increasing from fewer than 300 individuals in 2000 to more than 34,500 by 2014. Park scientists have set up remote trail cameras to monitor the presence and behavior of the park’s wildlife.
