William Howard Taft — a.k.a. “Big Bill” — He was 6 feet tall and topped the scales at a reported 350+ pounds, leading to strange rumours that he once got stuck in his bathtub. In fact, after getting elected, the White House acquired a specially-crafted tub that was over seven feet long, 41 inches wide, and weighed an actual ton. Taft was the 27th President of the United States and the only man to serve as both President and Supreme Court Chief Justice.

In 1901 he served as governor of the Philippines, he sent a telegram to Elihu Root (then Secretary of War) boasting that he had just ridden 25 miles into the jungle and back on horseback. Root cabled back: “How is the horse?” Taft got a good laugh.
