HOW MANY BLACK VOTERS IN THE U.S.?
—————————–———————-
SOMETHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK:
Blacks are about 14% of the US population. US population is about 310 Million. That’s about 43 million blacks. 1 in 4 adult black males has been in prison for a felonious crime. Anyone imprisoned for a felony is usually denied the right to vote. Under 18 years of age, can’t vote. Let’s say 70% can still vote. That is 30.4 million. In a general election voter turnout of 60% would be good but blacks are usually not that high. I’d say 50% is more in line. So that gives you 15.2 million black voters.
In the 2004 presidential election a total of about 110 million votes were cast. 15 million is 13.6 % of that. Interesting!
